one more day for the giveaway!!

Looking for my giveaway for Sew, Mama, Sew's May Giveaway Day? Click here! Comments will be closed tomorrow night at midnight (My time--what is it called? Eastern Standard?). Good luck!!

I am so completely blown away by the response I have gotten, not to mention the hundreds of amazingly talented and generous crafters who are participating. But, really, reading all of the (hundreds!) of comments from visitors has been so affirming. THANK YOU! I'm so excited to give this book away, I wish I could give something to everyone!

It's been a whirlwind week with the giveaway and the local Quilt Shop Hop I attended over the past three days with my Mom and cousin (two amazing crafters!). This was our first time and it was so much fun! We travelled over 500 miles to visit 14 fabric shops in 3 days. It was a bit insane but I picked up a LOT of pretty awesome fabric. I'm too embarrassed to tell you just how much so I'll just show you a few of my favorites:
love those little tulips!

could this possibly be any cuter?

$5/yard? I'll take it!

another $5 deal; no idea what I'll do with it but I couldn't pass it up!

in the sale bin at one of the last stores. Of course I bought what was left on the bolt!

Look out, kids, Mama's got more fabric!

she works hard for the money

You know when I've been quiet that I've been hard at work (or tied up in a corner by my pirate children). And I finally have a little something to show for it.
A NYC-themed book for a little boy named George:

:I love it. I want to do an NYC alphabet, though I may need some suggestions and a couple of years to complete it.
My girl off visiting her Nana in Northern New Hampshire so it's just me, Lyric and Skye until Thursday. Having one kid gone makes me think about having some serious kid-free time and we're trying to plan as many playdates as we can for the boy so that we can make some major strides in our respective work. For me that's books (a whole bunch more will be done soon!), for Skye it's a whole lotta rennovation. Here's a bad picture of our almost-done new bathroom:

You either love it or hate it, and I LOVE IT!! More pictures soon!

boys just wanna have fun, too

I talk about Tigerlily a lot. She's awesome, she's hilarious, she commands the spotlight. But always at her heels and so much like her (maybe a little more easy-going) is my little boy, Lyric. He, too, is awesome, hilarious, and is learning lots from his big sis. He is an amazing little ray of sunshine, he's adorable and super-friendly (you can't walk by him without a "hi!", often also a hug and kiss). He's such a little character in his own right.

He's so expressive and loves to talk with his hands.

He loves to hang out at school with the big boys. He's slowing learning the art of performance from Tige. He's still a bit confused about the hand to the mouth as a faux microphone, he's actually singing through those hands. He loves to wear two completely different shoes. He's becoming such an amazing little person. As if I ever had any doubts that he would with Tigerlily as his role model. Someday he'll be as cool as she is! Maybe with a little less attitude, please?

girls rock!

musicTigerlily has always been a rockstar. She's always been full of attitude and spark and is constantly making up songs and shows to go with them. So when I heard about a documentary about a rock camp for girls run by feminist rockers I quickly put it at the top of my Netflix queue.

Oh my god. It is totally dominating our lives these days. I want to go to rock camp! And, of course, so does Tigerlily. We're seriously looking into sending her in two years when she's old enough. She's determined to go this summer but it will have to be her own rock camp. That girl could totally get her friends to form a band this summer.

Here she is rocking out on a trip to Five Rivers this afternoon:shy at first

I have to thank all of my wonderful customers for their patience as I work through a move and a generally crazy/difficult time in my life. One good thing about it: adversity seems to really fuel my work, I'm really proud of what I've been creating lately!
