Another new book, this one in a loosely Philadelphia/New Jersey theme (with a little hockey and cheese thrown in for good measure). And I couldn't resist adding that little phoebe on the front! (look out for a bird alphabet coming soon....)

physics for babies
If I had one single scientific bone in my body I would have been a physicist. Really, how cool is physics?
So you can imagine my joy in creating this book:

time flies
Has it really been a week since my last post? Sorry about that, but you know I've been busy. Both kids are home until school starts (on September 14; kinda late, eh?) and Skye's incredibly busy. And I've been sewing up a storm.
I've got lots of new work to share! Here's the tip of the iceburg:

working weekend
The family went off on a little camping trip this weekend so I could get completely caught up on my custom orders. I hunkered down in my studio all weekend (just a couple brief outings to tend to the chickens) and, despite working pretty much constantly, didn't get nearly as much done as I had hoped.
Working straight through a weekend is just too much. My brain hurts, I can't force creativity for 48 straight hours! But I did make some serious headway and will be finishing up a LOT of things this week. Somehow.
Until then, here's a book I finished up last week:
I love the name Tadhg.

little pickin' quilt
I was really excited to give this one a try: a little quilt for draping on your leg to cushion the weight of a banjo. This 5-string is a new design; being partial to tenor banjo I've only ever made 4-strings. I am so happy with the result!

on location
It's been a very busy week but somehow, amidst all of the chaos, a couple of movie scenes were filmed in our house!Grand Street Community Arts runs a filmaking summer camp for teens called Youth FX out of the Free School next door. The kids write, direct, act in, and edit a movie every summer, and they asked us if they could film here. We do have a pretty awesome apartment!
I can't wait to see the finished product!!

all kids are cute
... but get a load of these two:
naked with guitar and straw hat, singin' the blues
eating the blueberries she picked
...even the sour ones
Those two are quite a pair.

so thankful for my patient friends
My friends are amazing, awesome, kind, inspiring, and, most of all, PATIENT. All of them who have ordered anything from me have had their patience tested--as much as I love them I always seem take forever to finish their books!
It certainly doesn't help that I've been experiencing a bit of sewer's block lately; though I'm definitely still producing lots it's been more of a struggle to get it done. But, look Katie! your order is done!! And they'll be on their way to their respective new homes first thing tomorrow.
