As much as I love living in the city I've been feeling the country itch in a bad way and have been anxious to get out into the woods with the family. We did just that after school on Friday at a really cool little preserve along the Hudson a bit south of us. It was the first time we've been there and we'll definitely be back.

Well, I'm officially gearing up for the holidays, and I don't mean Halloween (though there's a lot to do there, too...). And so, it's time for a sale!

This is my biggest sale to date--all readymade items are reduced, many by as much as 50%. Orders over $50 will also receive a set of 8 notecards made from 100% post-consumer recycled cover stock and the bits and pieces of fabric that I can't bear to throw away.

the end of the summer

We packed a whole lot into the last week of our summer vacation.

Not photographed but equally as exciting: new fancy Volvo station wagon purchased in Burlington where we also visited the super-fun Shelburne Museum and our bedroom completed at long last!

Today was Tigerlily's first day of first grade and she had a blast. Among the highlights that she listed from her day were reading the words "classic New York" and climbing the rope out back.

I think it's going to be a really great year for her, and for us all!

big news: part 2

This is the biggest news of all--thanks to our awesome friends Matt and Leah, I now have an absolutely amazing studio space outside of my house!Skye built us a huge cutting table!

They have this really gorgeous 3+ story house around the block from us and have only been using the first two stories, though their ultimate plan was to have a studio on the third floor. I've been struggling with working from home and balancing kids/leisure/work and they were so, so kind in offering me the space.

I've yet to really set it up and settle in but I've already spent a few days up there at the top of the neighborhood and I really, really love it. (Leah, you and I need to make a date to really dig in up there.)

Leah and I will be sharing the space and I'm most excited about that. I am really inspired by her and her work and creativity, I really hope having the space there and having me working just upstairs inspires her to jump in, too--you know you're amazing, girl! And there's so much possibility for the space, I feel some pretty exciting things are going to happen up there!

big news: part one

Big news around these parts: Tigerlily's got a sweet new room! It's really just the old room with some awesome paint that she picked out and a couple of improvements.
It's difficult to see in this light but there are two pretty awesome shades of orange there. The ladder was found and works so perfectly, like steep stairs. Skye repurposed a piece of old futon fram for the front railing. She sleeps up there now and though it is pretty high it's definitely safe and I think it's going to be fine. We picked up a few cheetah accents thrifting this weekend and I'm making a cheetah curtain for her window and door. The room could use a few more special Tigerlily touches but all in all it's a pretty fantastic transformation.

I know, I know, it's been FOREVER. I have so much to share and am still so overwhelmed with the whirlwind of our lives so I'm trying to get back into the swing of things slowly.
