giveaway day!

Whew, I didn't think I'd make it there for a while, but here we are. Sew, Mama, Sew's Giveaway Day!

Last time I gave away one of my favorite cloth books, the British Words book. This time I wanted to try something a little different and do a test run on an item I'm thinking about making for the shop.

And here it is:

:A doll-sized (about 18" x 22") alphabet quilt!

I used all vintage fabrics and organic cotton batting to make this beauty. The thing I really love about it is that it's just as pretty hung on the wall as it is in the arms of your little one.

If you'd like a chance to win this for your very own leave a comment letting me know what you think of the vintage doll quilt as a potential addition to my shop. Are there any other things you may like to see? Themes for future books? I'm looking forward to some time in the coming year to further develop my products and would love to hear your ideas. And of course it's fine if you'd just like to say hi ;)

I'll be choosing the winner with a random number generator on December 7.

I will gladly ship internationally--I couldn't leave out all of the wonderful friends I've been making worldwide!

Cheers, and good luck!!

  14. Of course you should put quilts in a shop! This is beautiful and it is versatile. Display on a wall (which I will do) or use for a doll. or baby or a child's lovey. Your books are great! You should do one on different house types in the form of snail shells. You know the usual round type and the cone shaped etc etc Do research- there are all types of shells on snails. It would make a cute book.

Thanks for the opportunity to win this beauty.

It's so hard to find really fun and sweet doll blankets, I had to cut down fleece to make one for my daughter. This is lovely. BTW I am in awe of your handmade books, the name ones are super lovely. I know this is cliche but a princess one would be nice to see, because that's what my daughter at 3 would want the most.

I'd definitely buy that - and I had to check out your store and your blog just on the basis of the name alone (Anne Fadiman's Ex Libris is one of my favorite books ever). I'm definitely going to be asking for some eco vintage monogram cards for my birthday next month!

  97. oh my goodness this is lovely. I definitely think this should be a contender for your shop. Alphabet prints are a safe bet (there was even a feature on Design Sponge of them), unisex and have educational appeal. Plus your colour scheme and fabric choice are wonderful. It is so nice to see a quilt in options other than pink or purple.

keep up the great work and thanks for sharing!

  157. That doll quilt cute is great. But I think it would depend on the pricing...how much does one want to spend on a quilt for a doll. But as a wall hanging I think it would be even better. I could see a whole bunch of these center around classic children's book themes....Charlotte's Web...Where the Wild Things Are...etc.

    ReplyDelete
  158. This is super cute! It would go perfectly with the basinet I made for my daughter's dolly this Christmas!

I agree with the others that it would depend on the pricing. I would definitely spend a bit more on an alphabet quilt that was at least throw size, but I'm not sure I'd want to spend too much on a doll quilt, you know? I could be wrong though, things with letters and numbers on them seem to be big hits lately.
