Whew, I didn't think I'd make it there for a while, but here we are. Sew, Mama, Sew's Giveaway Day!
Last time I gave away one of my favorite cloth books, the British Words book. This time I wanted to try something a little different and do a test run on an item I'm thinking about making for the shop.
And here it is:
:A doll-sized (about 18" x 22") alphabet quilt!
I used all vintage fabrics and organic cotton batting to make this beauty. The thing I really love about it is that it's just as pretty hung on the wall as it is in the arms of your little one.
If you'd like a chance to win this for your very own leave a comment letting me know what you think of the vintage doll quilt as a potential addition to my shop. Are there any other things you may like to see? Themes for future books? I'm looking forward to some time in the coming year to further develop my products and would love to hear your ideas. And of course it's fine if you'd just like to say hi ;)
I'll be choosing the winner with a random number generator on December 7.
I will gladly ship internationally--I couldn't leave out all of the wonderful friends I've been making worldwide!
Cheers, and good luck!!

ReplyDeleteI personally love the idea of a dolls quilt in your shop and the former teacher in me loves that it's an alphabet one. It's so hard to find really fun and sweet doll blankets, I had to cut down fleece to make one for my daughter. This is lovely. BTW I am in awe of your handmade books, the name ones are super lovely. ReplyDeleteOOOh, I hope I win! I just made my daughter a Waldorf doll and also scored a vintage doll bunkbed. As for your shop; this is what I look for - vintage-y things that remind me of being a little girl/ simple fabrics as opposed to bright patterns. You've hit the nail on the head!
ReplyDeletecynsaw2@hotmail.com
My mom is giving my daughter a doll bed for Christmas, so this would be a perfect addition to it!! It is so sweet! And great way to learn the alphabet. Another addition to your shop could be some cute doll pillows.
ReplyDeleteThanks!

Happy holidays!
Fantastic, Victoria! Keep up the phenomenal work.
ReplyDeleteLots of love,
Mom
Definitely add this to your shop! Our little girls would use it for dolls, then it can be passed down to any gender child as a wall-hanging. Very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt! I think it would be a great addition to your shop. I have a few doll-quilts my grandma made for my mom's dolls and now I've passed them to my daughter - I'm sure people would love to have one of these beauties to pass along. Thanks for the chance to win :)
ReplyDeleteIt would be a great addition to your shop, it is soooo darling! Thank you for the chance!
ReplyDeleteThat is the cutest stinkin' thing I've ever seen. I initially thought it was a wall hanging, but seems even better as a dolly quilt. I'd definitely buy that - and I had to check out your store and your blog just on the basis of the name alone (Anne Fadiman's Ex Libris is one of my favorite books ever). I'm definitely going to be asking for some eco vintage monogram cards for my birthday next month!
ReplyDeleteOoo this is so cute! You should definitely add them to your shop, they would make great additions! Thanks for hosting the giveaway too!
ReplyDeleteAdorable!

ReplyDeleteOh, I just love this little quilt because 1. I am supposed to make a little doll quilt for my daughter before Christmas and this is so cute and 2. My daughter is OBSESSED with singing her a,b,c's. She belts the song out constantly. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI loved your quilt - it would be a christmas gift suited for both my kids (boy 3 years, girl 1 1/2 years). The boy would have great fun in learning the letters, and the little girlie would need it for the doll's bed she will get for xmas... :-) I must admit I do not know what kind of books you may have made before, but what about looking further into childrens stuff/dolls stuff?
ReplyDeleteThe doll quilt is beautiful! It would make a great addition, especially if you included loops on the back just in case someone wanted to buy one to hang on the wall.
ReplyDeleteAs for a future book theme: New Zealand, either New Zealand phrases or words, or animals or a combination, that would be an awesome book.
I would hang this little quilt on the wall and admire it.
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is awesome - I have a niece who would think that was the cat's pajamas ! A doll quilt WITH the alphabet - it's the intersection of all good things. I haven't looked around yet, but you bet I will !

ReplyDeleteI love your work and I think this would be great in your shop.
ReplyDeleteOther ideas: maybe more themed cloth books--British Words was great (i.e. holidays or American idioms or foreign language phrases for children?)
I also think your appliques would look great on bags or purses! Maybe library totes?
e.cordes1213@gmail.com
I think this would be a lovely addition to the shop...I can see it being very popular!
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway!
I think you should put this in your shop.

oh my goodness this is lovely. I definitely think this should be a contender for your shop. Alphabet prints are a safe bet (there was even a feature on Design Sponge of them), unisex and have educational appeal. Plus your colour scheme and fabric choice are wonderful. It is so nice to see a quilt in options other than pink or purple.
ReplyDeletekeep up the great work and thanks for sharing!
iheartmonami {at} gmail {dot} com
That is a fabulous quilt and you should definitely make these an addition to your shop. Really lovely.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend whose daughter absolutely needs this for her dolls. She is the most loving little mamma ever, and with a little sister on the way this would be a perfect little present just for her!

ReplyDeletethis quilt is lovely, and I think it would make a fabulous addition to your shop. Also, a fabulous addition to my collection, so pick me, pick me! :-) Thanks for the giveaway
ReplyDeleteoh yes i'd buy that from your shop. My daughter LOVES the ABCs and anything that has them listed on them is HUGE in her book...not to mention that she is also in a BIG baby doll phase so this would be a great addition to her collection as well as to your Etsy store :)

ReplyDeleteOh, this is beautiful. It is one of those items that a girl could treasure forever.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love it. Something that would get passed on down the generations I reckon...

ReplyDeleteI am a doll collector and have a sleeping boy doll who would love to snuggle under the quilt.
ReplyDeleteladycolmn@aol.com
This is lovely, Victoria, though I'd be hard-pressed to hand it over to a child when I'd want it hanging on my wall. As far as new books are concerned, how about some adult-themed memory books -- like for weddings, new baby/home, graduation, running a marathon, etc. -- with a pocket for mementos?
ReplyDeleteYes! Put it in your shop. It's different and vintage is always a big plus. I'd hang it up. It should be admired by many.
ReplyDeleteI say if you like making vintage doll quilts then go for it!
ReplyDeleteI love it. It is so cute and perfect.
ReplyDeletethis is adorable...please count me in
ReplyDeletelezlie21(at)aol(dot)com
gosh, I love the doll quilt! mostly because I have an adorable niece who I love to spoil with things!
ReplyDeleteI say you should definitly put it in your shop. It is multifunctional and could appeal to many people. Off the top of my head for new ideas, maybe consider making doll house items. I have a friend who has been working on a doll house for her kids and finding items for said doll house has been challenging.
ReplyDeleteLove, love love it- it is so cute and unusual. Of course I want to win it!
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is a treasure. I also like the items in your shop. Anything quilted with words on it makes me smile. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteVery nice - I'm sure it would be a great addition to your shop.
ReplyDeleteSooo pretty! I think it would be a fine choice in your shop - think of the variations in fonts and colours and sizes! Thanks for this awesome giveaway:)
ReplyDeletecsiu[at]rogers[dot]com
I love the quilt! I'm sure it would be a great addition to your shop!
ReplyDeleteI am quite sure this would be a top-seller! My niece loves to put her dolls to bed under quilts and blankets, and she's very interested in the alphabet too! If I was lucky enough to win this giveaway then the quilt would go to her.

Oh, I love the quilt. I would use it as a wall hanging, and I can see loads of people buying it for their little ones. It would be a great addition to your shop.
ReplyDeleteI really like the quilt and I do think you should add it to your shop. As for other things - how about a book about the 5 senses? Each sense could have a page or 2 with things to stimulate that sense.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a darling idea...we sing the alphabet alot at night before bed so this would be a fun leanring tool for us! Thanks for my chance. merry chirstmas.
ReplyDeleteThat doll quilt is simply adorable! Thanks for this great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI think that the doll quilt is really cute!! I don't know how well it will sell to be honest but I haven't been around the craft selling business long!! Thanks for the giveaway. That will be cute on the wall in my kids room!!
ReplyDeleteThat doll quilt cute is great. But I think it would depend on the pricing...how much does one want to spend on a quilt for a doll. But as a wall hanging I think it would be even better. I could see a whole bunch of these center around classic children's book themes....Charlotte's Web...Where the Wild Things Are...etc.
ReplyDeleteThis is super cute! It would go perfectly with the basinet I made for my daughter's dolly this Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the others that it would depend on the pricing. I would definitely spend a bit more on an alphabet quilt that was at least throw size, but I'm not sure I'd want to spend too much on a doll quilt, you know? I could be wrong though, things with letters and numbers on them seem to be big hits lately.
Of course you need to add some doll quilts, all little girls need a blankie for their dolls. Such a cute quilt.
ReplyDeleteThis would make a great addition to your shop...a darling doll quilt.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great giveaway!
I think your doll quilt is PRECIOUS and I'm hoping I win so I can give it to my little girl due in March. Thanks for doing this giveaway and best of luck!

ReplyDeleteYou should add it to your shop. It's too cute! Happy holidays!
ReplyDeleteI think this is easily the nicest handmade item in the giveaway. You should definitely put then in your shop. Not this one though - it wants to come and live with us ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful little quilt. I bet they would sell like hot cakes! Just lovely! oh and HI there. Thanks for the chance to enter!
